Featuring author Dr. Divine Tarla Fulbright Visiting Scholar, 2017 Kansas State University, and Fulbright Association ND Chapter Board Member.

The talk will concentrate on the overlooked narratives of millions of Africans who endure extreme poverty, confronting problems sometimes unnoticed by the global society. Having personally encountered these conditions, Dr. Tarla will illuminate the daily challenges that numerous Africans face, which are hardly addressed in traditional reports or studies. He will underscore that although initiatives by international organizations and governments are praiseworthy, their outcomes have not produced the intended effect, primarily because the solutions frequently adhere to Western success paradigms that are incompatible with the African setting. The presentation will also examine the lack of representation for the “voiceless” in decision-making processes.
